What is the Prostate?

The prostate is normally about the size and shape of walnut. It‘s locates below the bladder. It surrounds the urethra (the tube that carries urine and semen out of the body). The function of the prostate is to produce a fluid. This fluid mixes with fluid from the seminal vesicles and sperm from the testicles to form semen.

Prostate Cancer is a common cancer in men, especially older men.

Cancer is an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells. Prostate Cancer begins in the prostate, a small gland below the bladder. As the cancer grows it can spread to nearby organs or other parts of the body.
