Urinary Stones
Urinary Stones (Calculi) are hardened minerals deposits that form in the kidney. They originate as microscopic particles and develop into stones overtime. The medical term for this condition is nephrolithiasis or renal stone disease.
Types of Stones:
Calcium Stones: Excess calcium in the urine.
Uric Acid Stones: The digestion of protein procedures uric acid. If the acid level in the urine is high or too much acid is excreted, the uric acid may not dissolve and uric acid stones may form.
Cystine Stones: An amino acid in protein that does not dissolve well, leaving a large amount of cystine in the urine results in this condition.
Struvite Stones: Also called an infection stone, develops when a urinary tract infection stone, develops when a urinary tract infection affects the chemical balance in the urine. Struvite stones are more common in women.
Symptoms:
o Blood in the urine.o Increased frequency of urination.
o Pain during urination.
o Urinary Tract infection.
